Thanksgiving for our Director
In Philippians 2:29 the apostle Paul said of Epaphroditus, a church leader who had served and led the church in Philippi ”So receive him in the Lord with all joy, and honour such men“. So should we honourr the men who serve us in faithful service.
At our 5 April 2024 service, we acknowledged the service of Chong Kang Wei, who served on our Board of Directors. Our Directors oversee our governance, budget and finance matters, as well as inter-congregational relationships. He had served for three years, and recently completed his term on 31 March 2024.
During the service, Pastor Mark pointed out that the work of serving in this way was often a thankless job, and took the opportunity to thank him for his service on behalf of the elders and the church.
He also invited Kang Wei to share about how the church could be praying for him. Kang Wei first expressed that it was a privilege to serve in this capacity, and he could get a firsthand view of the many ways God is at work in our church. He also expressed gratitude to God for the chance to work and share life with the Elders and fellow Directors over many meals and conversations throughout his term.
Kang Wei shared that he’d like the church to pray for rest as he stepped down from this role. He would still continue to serve and participate in church life in other ways moving forward.
We thank God for Kang Wei’s service, and also for sustaining him and his family through his term of service. Let us also continue to pray for our existing Board of Directors as they seek to serve God and His church faithfully.
