A Very Present Help in Trouble (Psalm 46:1-11)

This sermon was preached by our guest speaker, Rev Jeremy Lee.

Sermon Outline

Psalm 46 is a beautiful reminder that God is a very present help in times of trouble.

Three reasons why God’s people may be afflicted, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.

  1. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Ps 46:1-3)

  2. God dwells with us (Ps 46:4-7)

  3. God does wondrous things (Ps 46:8-11)

Reflection Questions

  1. Why is it important to have a right view of God? How is God a refuge and strength to me?

  2. What is the significance of God dwelling with me? What wondrous things has God done in my life?

  3. How can I use the truths of Psalm 46 to encourage others?
