Updates about Yanadi
Note: This article was first published on 9 October 2024, and further updated on 12 November 2024.
Yanadi has been our Ministry Worker for Christian Education and will be taking the role of Pastor at The Fisherman of Christ Fellowship from January 2025.
At the 10 November 2024 service, Pastor Oliver invited Yanadi, his wife Fellisia and their two boys, to share a bit about their upcoming move. Yanadi is preaching two sermons in our 2 Thessalonians series, titled “Standing Firm”. Pastor Oliver announced that to prepare for his move, Yanadi will be taking some time off in November and December.
Previously, Pastor Eugene had also announced at our 6 October 2024 service about this move. This was not the first time the staff and lay elders have shared about this, as it was also mentioned and prayed for at our Members’ Meeting and Prayer Meeting in September. Yanadi joined GBC in 2018 as a member, and participated in the traineeship in 2019. He joined the staff team as a Ministry Worker for Christian Education in 2021.
Yanadi thanks the church for welcoming him and his family into the community, and also modelling for them what it means to be a part of this community. Having been a member at GBC since 2018 has helped him and his wife, Fellisia to grow in their own walk, and also as they walk with each other in their marriage. He recounted how he first entered with suspicions about church leaders and their necessity. But through the years, as he observed and got to know the leaders here, seeing how they lead both from the pulpit and also caring for the members, he has also grown in his understanding about the church and its leadership. He is also thankful for the sisters in the church and his care group for how they have cared for Fellisia.
His years at GBC has also taught him about the importance of preaching and the of expository preaching from the pulpit to shape the culture of the church, and move the church to obedience to God’s Word. He also expressed his thanksgiving to the church for their hospitality to him and his family. He sees God’s hand in creating a culture where it is almost normal for members to reach out and invite others for meals and to read the Bible together.
Yanadi will be pastoring one of three congregations in the church, with about 300 members. The Fisherman of Christ Fellowship has been established since 1954. He shared that we can pray for him to remain focus and faithful in doing gospel ministry, to continue to teach faithfully every Sunday. His prayer is that as he does so, God will create a gospel culture in the church.
Continue to pray for his family too, that they will be able to build and sustain meaningful gospel friendships that can model what it means to disciple one another.
We encourage the church to take the next few months to encourage Yanadi, Fellisia and their children.
We are happy to send him, and in doing so, develop a new partnership with another local gathering of God’s people in The Fisherman of Christ Fellowship. One of the goals for us as a congregation is to grow in health and to also help other churches become healthier. It is therefore important for us to train and develop men and women for ministry. We also desire to train and send out faithful, qualified men for pastoral ministry. May God grant us more opportunities to do so, to grow the gospel in Singapore and even beyond.
