Staffing Updates
At our recent Members’ Meeting in November, the elders shared some staffing updates. Pastor Jeremy elaborated on these changes at our 8 December service.
Pastor Jeremy shared how Psalm 78:4 exhorts us to tell the coming generations about our wondrous God, the mighty things He has done and His salvation. As a church, we want to take seriously this call to share the gospel with the next generation. We want to come alongside our families in raising the next generation.
In 2025, we will have three ministry workers who will focus on our children’s ministry, youth ministry and young adults ministry respectively.
Children’s Ministry
Siew Ting is no stranger to many and she is currently working as our Ministry Worker for Children’s Ministry on a part-time capacity. Siew Ting is married to Siang Teck and has two adult children – Caleb and Joshua, and they are also members of GBC. Come January 2025, she will continue her work as a full-time Ministry Worker. She will continue to help coordinate, care for, and recruit volunteers to ensure that the Sunday School programme can run smoothly every week. Siew Ting also connects with families and supports new parents and visitors. Our Children’s Ministry is currently for those aged 0 to 12, with about 20 children in the nursery (3 and below) and 120 children in Sunday school (3 to 12 year olds). There are a total of 116 volunteers helping out with this ministry! A lot of work goes into running this ministry, so if you see her and any of the teachers on a Sunday, do stop to encourage them!
Youth Ministry
Next, Pastor Jeremy introduced Nicholas, who will come onboard as our Ministry Worker for Youth starting 1 January 2025. Nicholas has been serving as a Deacon for our Young Adults ministry. He is married to Aurelia and they were both part of the Ministry Traineeship that began in July. We give thanks that Nicholas has responded to God’s call to serve full-time. Nicholas has had prior experience ministering to youth, and has also taught our youth on a number of occasions. He is excited to be serving the 29 youths, 15 volunteers and their families.
Young Adults
Finally, Joshua, who has been serving with us as our Ministry Worker for Youth for the past four years will be moving over to minister to the Young Adults (YA) and coordinate Christian Education (CE). Joshua is married to Tiffany, and they have two young children, Theophilus and Tabitha. They look forward to journeying with the 40 YAs of our church.
We thank God for raising men and women who are obedient to His call and seek to love and serve His church. Pastor Jeremy encouraged the church to get to know these ministry workers and encourage them in their ministry. Members, if you have any questions regarding these changes, feel free to speak to any of our pastors or lay elders.
