Baptisms and Transfers – 19 January 2025

We baptised and welcomed one new member — Grace — at our 19 January service. Members of GBC had voted to receive her and two others — Fides and David Andrada — who joined by transfer at the Members’ Meeting on 12 January,

Pastor Jeremy reminded us like the Lord’s Supper, baptism is an ordinance instituted by Jesus and given to the church to make visible the gospel and to encourage us in our faith. We identify with Jesus’ burial when we go under the water in baptism and express a commitment to put to death our old sinful self. We identify with Jesus’ resurrection when we rise and emerge from the water. The God that we believe in is not the God of the dead, but is the God of the living who has risen and assures us that all who trust in Him have new life. The act of baptism does not save us but it makes visible our union with Jesus and our commitment to want to live for God.

Grace shared her understand of the gospel and how it has impacted her life:

Jesus died on the cross and rose on the third day, and He will return again. He is our living Saviour that will come again to the world. Romans 5:10-11 says that “For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.” I recognise that it is through Jesus’s sacrifice that my relationship with God can be reconciled and a renewed life in Christ means shedding the life of sin and following Jesus’s example in the way that I live my life and in my relationships with others.

At the end of the service, the new members were presented to and welcomed by the congregation. GBC members also warmly welcomed them after the service, with many stopping to shake their hands and even to chat with them!

Members, if you’d like a copy of the testimonies or wish to stay connected with other members, you may request a copy of our Members’ Directory from the church office, either in person, or by writing to info@gracebaptistchurch.sg.

If God has used these baptisms and transfers to prompt you to find out more about membership at GBC, you can also write to us at info@gracebaptistchurch.sg. Our next membership class will tentatively be on 12 April 2025.

If you are interested to find out more about this God that they speak about, feel free to reach out to our pastors, elders or your care group leaders! We'd love to chat and share more.
