Praying for Missions
We have been praying for our missionaries at our monthly prayer meetings, but sometimes we may struggle with praying for them. It could seem hard to persevere in prayer for people and needs that seem so distant from us. We may also feel like our requests are repetitive.
Four biblical priorities in praying for missions
Mark Collins, who taught recently at our Equip session, wrote a helpful article on the Crossway blog that encourages us to consider four biblical priorities in praying for missions. The four priorities are:
Pray that God would bless your own local church.
Pray that God would open doors of gospel ministry to the unreached.
Pray for missionaries to present the gospel boldly and clearly.
Pray for missionaries to endure hardship as good soldiers of Christ Jesus.
You can read more about what he says about each point in this article.
Praying for missionaries at GBC
At GBC, we are thankful for how God has raised from our midst different ones who are willing to obey Him by bringing the gospel to the nations. Many of our missionaries have been serving faithfully for many years, both in missions organisations based in Singapore, as well as on the field overseas. God has also provided for our financial needs, and we are thankful for how the missions giving is still provided for during this period.
At each prayer meeting, different missionaries are able to share about their work and the ways that God has been at work, as well as some prayer needs. Due to the sensitive nature of some of their sharing, we are unable to fully represent all that they share on our website. Thus, attending prayer meeting is one way we can know more about God's work in our world and through the missionaries whom we are supporting. In addition, you are encouraged to sign up for Grace eNews, our weekly enewsletter, where we will share the latest updates and prayer requests of our missionaries on every last Friday of the month.
