Interview with Lee-Tiang Siew Ting
In Feb 2020, Lee-Tiang Siew Ting joined the English Congregation Ministry Team as a part-time Ministry Support Worker. We catch up with her to find out more about her new role and how we can pray for her.
Hi Siew Ting, can you tell us what's your role like?
As a Ministry Support Worker for the Children’s Ministry and the Nursery, my role is to support the growing needs of this ministry, and it includes:
Ensuring a smooth Sunday experience for the children, families and volunteers.
Identifying and meeting new needs of the ministry as well as planning and preparing for church growth.
Organising occasional training and equipping events for teachers.
Why did you decide to take this up?
In this culture of multi-media technologies, bringing the gospel to the next generation has been in my heart as I undertake the role as His ambassador to lead my boys into faith. One thing is certain—God has no grandchildren, therefore, our children need to own their faith first-hand. I am constantly reminded of Deuteronomy 6:6-7 and Psalm 78:4 as I participate in this ministry of nurturing the faith of our young ones. It is my prayer that these verses will also impress upon the hearts of our future generations.
What are some areas of need for the Children's Ministry? How can people serve and partner?
With a growing number of children in GBC, we are in need of volunteers who can help in teaching, leading children’s worship, logistics as well as those with expertise in taking care of children with special needs. If you are interested or would like to find out more, I encourage you to join us for Children’s Ministry Recruitment and Teachers’ Training which will take place this coming Saturday, 21 Mar in Room 310 CD from 230-530pm. During the training, we will go through classroom management techniques, how to structure a lesson etc., and it will also be a time of fellowship among new and existing teachers.
We also greatly treasure your partnership in prayers for each Sunday as we sow His word and be a worthy vessel for His glory.
