SERMON NOTES

Avoiding Divisive Allegiance to Human Leaders

1 Corinthians 3:18-23

Introduction

Where are we at?

You do not be deceived (v. 18)…

… because the world’s standards are foolish and futile (vv. 19-20)

You do not boast in human leaders (v. 21a)…

… because all things have been given to the church for your benefit (vv. 21b-23)

So what? What now?

Conclusion

“Every possible experience in life, and even the experience of death itself, belongs to Christians, in the sense that in the end it will turn out to be for their good.”

– Margaret Thrall quoted by Leon Morris
