Prepare for Worship (24 Dec 2017)

WORSHIP PREPARATION

Call to Worship : Isaiah 9:2-7

"The people who walk in darkness will see a great light.

For those who live in a land of deep darkness, a light will shine.

You will enlarge the nation of Israel, and its people will rejoice.

They will rejoice before you as people rejoice at the harvest...

For you will break the yoke of their slavery

and lift the heavy burden from their shoulders.

The boots of the warrior and the uniforms bloodstained by war

will all be burned. They will be fuel for the fire.

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us.

The government will rest on his shoulders.

And he will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace

His government and its peace will never end.

He will rule with fairness and justice from the throne of his ancestor David for all eternity.

The passionate commitment of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies  will make this happen!

Amidst all the festivities of the Christmas season, as you prepare to gather with God's people this Sunday, take a moment to consider the difference that light makes in your world today and ask if there is any part of your world that needs the light of Christ to shine and allow Him to rule in your heart as the rightful, God's anointed KIng.

SONGS OF WORSHIP

Here are the songs to help us prepare for worship this week.

GOD'S WORD IN WORSHIP

This week, Pastor Eugene will bring us the last sermon of the Advent Series and his sermon is titled "Come Worship the True King". He will be preaching from Matthew 2:1-12, pointing us to Jesus, the true King who came to save His people and is worthy of our wholehearted worship. Let's pray for his sermon preparation as this is a heavy week for him, having to speak at the Youth Camp as well.

PRAYING FOR THE COMMUNITY

We thank God for the brothers and sisters who are joining the GBC family by baptism and transfer this Sunday. Let us pray that they will continue to grow and bear fruit for Christ. We also give thanks for the encouraging response to our Christmas Celebration this Sunday. Let us pray that this will be an opportunity for us to share the story of Jesus Christ with those who have yet to come to faith in God and for us as a community of believers, to reflect Christ and the gospel as we do life together. Here is this week's ministry guide to help us pray and get involved in the upcoming events and the ministries.

Let's be worshipping God on your way to church on Sunday!
