Prepare for Worship (16 Sep 2018)

As you prepare your heart for worhip this Sunday, give thanks for one evidence of our Father God’s transforming love in your life this past week.

Call to Worship: Psalm 1:1-3

Blessed is the man

who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

 nor stands in the way of sinners,

nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

but his delight is in the law of the LORD,

and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree

planted by streams of water

that yields its fruit in its season,

and its leaf does not wither.

In all that he does, he prospers.

Here are the songs for this week.

Continuing with our 1 John series, Pastor Oliver be preaching from 1 John 2:12-17 and his sermon is titled "Believers and the World". He will remind that because of our new status as children of light, that we can then relate rightly to the world. Let's uphold Pastor Oliver in prayer as he prepares his sermon amid the challenges at home and that God will use him to point us to our Father God's transforming love.

One issue that has engendered much discussion and concern this week would be the proposed recommendations to Singapore's penal code. Let's pray for wisdom for our government as they review these recommendations and for the church, to maintain a faithful and loving gospel witness in our response. Let us not forget to pray also for the various ministry opportunities in our church and for ourselves to consider participating them. For more information on the ministry needs, please refer to this week's ministry guide. Let us be a God-fearing and God-honouring church that  always seeks His pleasure.
