Prepare for Worship (1 Nov 2020)

Ministry Guide (1 Nov 2020)

What are you depending on for God's approval: the standard of your own religious "performance" or Christ alone?

Call to Worship: Jeremiah 9:23-24

"Thus says the LORD: "Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches, but let him who boasts boast in this, that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD who practices steadfast love, justice, and righteousness in the earth. For in these things I delight, declares the LORD."

GOD'S WORD IN WORSHIP

Last Sunday, we observed the necessity of the cross that Jesus is the only door to eternal life. Continuing this week, Pastor Eugene will help us see from his sermon "Don't Be Religious!" taken from Luke 14:1-11, that proud and self-righteous religiosity is futile but God will exalt the humble. Let's be praying for Pastor Eugene that God will use him to convict hearts to turn from pride but to Him who gives grace and mercy to those who seek Him wholeheartedly.

PRAYING FOR THE COMMUNITY

This week, let's be praying for these needs:

1. Justice to be done and God's honour maintained be maintained in the upcoming U.S. elections.

2. Thank God for how He is not only bringing new people to us despite of the current restrictions on worship gatherings but also showing us grace and mercy, working in and through us despite our weaknesses, being deeply dysfunctional in many ways as a church.

For other needs of the church, please refer to this week's ministry guide.
