Prepare for Worship (6 Sep 2020)

Ministry Guide (6 Sep 2020)

In what ways have you opposed God's word this past week? What was going on in your heart when you did so?

Call to Worship: Psalm 24:3-5

"Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord?
And who shall stand in his holy place?
He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not lift up his soul to what is false
and does not swear deceitfully.
He will receive blessing from the Lord
and righteousness from the God of his salvation."

GOD'S WORD IN WORSHIP

Taking the pulpit this Sunday is Pastor Oliver who will take us through Luke 11:37-54 and help us see that unclean hearts will lead to empty religion which opposes God's word. Let us pray for Pastor Oliver that he will not grow weary in serving and pleasing God through the preaching of His word. Pray for us that we will heed and obey God's word.

PRAYING FOR THE COMMUNITY

Let's be praying for these groups of people this week:

1. Teachers

  • Pray that the teachers will shine for Jesus as they instruct their students in a God-honouring way.
  • Pray for the teachers in the Children's Ministry, Nursery, CG and small group leaders, pastors/elders etc. that the Holy Spirit will empower them to proclaim and be strengthened by God's truth.

2. Members who have moved overseas for work/studies

  • Pray that they will lean on God as they adjust to new changes in their lives
  • Pray that God will assure them of His protection and provision for their families back home.
  • Pray that they will find a local church community where they can be plugged in and be a blessing there.

3. GBC Community

  • Pray that we will receive the Word of the gospel and have our hearts cleansed.
  • Pray that we will connect and strengthen our relationship with one another, and encourage each other's relationship with God as we get fatigued with Zoom and other virtual meet-ups.

Please refer to this week's ministry guide for other needs in church.
