Prepare for Worship (23 Aug 2020)

Ministry Guide (23 Aug 2020)

What are some areas of my life that I need to declare my dependence on King Jesus today?

Call to Worship: Isaiah 49:25-26

"But the Lord says,
"The captives of warriors will be released,
and the plunder of tyrants will be retrieved.
For I will fight those who fight you,
and I will save your children.
I will feed your enemises with their own flesh.
They will be drunk with rivers of their own blood.
All the world will know that I, the Lord,
am your Saviour and your Redeemer,
the Mighty One of Israel."

GOD'S WORD IN WORSHIP

We thank God for His reminder through Pastor Eugene last Sunday from 1 Peter 2:4-5, that our identity in Christ should shape how we live as God's holy temple when we celebrated God's 61 years of faithfulness to GBC. This Sunday, we return to the book of Luke 11:14-26 where the sermon is titled "Declaration of Dependence". Pastor Oliver will preach on God’s great power that rescues people from darkness into His kingdom. Let's be praying for him that he will speak God's truth with wisdom and understanding, and boldness and power to preach the gospel.

PRAYING FOR THE COMMUNITY

We thank God for those who gathered in church for worship and to observe the Lord's Supper last Sunday. It was an encouraging sight to see not only familiar faces but also new visitors who have been watching our service online. Let's pray for our government leaders to have the wisdom and discernment as they gradually phase-in the re-opening of the economy with the drop in infected cases.  Let's pray that Lord willing, we will be able to gather as a church soon. Let's also pray for perseverance and wisdom for our Children's Ministry that  the children and teachers will be encouraged and strengthened as they meet one another online to learn God's truth on Sundays.  Let us as a church not to neglect gathering together whether in church or virtually. Also, let us remember to pray for Pastor Ian and Sherri that God will keep them safe as they enjoy a well-deserved break in Canada and a time of reunion with their children and grandchildren. Here is this week's ministry guide for our prayer and participation.
