Prepare for Worship (2 Feb 2020)

What areas of my life do I have to put my confidence in Jesus’ authoritative word today?

Call to Worship: Psalm 103:2-5 (ESV)

"Bless the Lord, O my soul,

and forget not all his benefits,

who forgives all your iniquity,

who heals all your diseases,

who redeems your life from the pit,

who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,

who satisfies you with good

so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s."

Here are the songs for this week.

Continuing with Luke this Sunday is Pastor Oliver who will be preaching from Luke 4:31-44, and his sermon is titled "Jesus' Wondrous Works". The big idea of his sermon is about Jesus who acts with power and authority to heal and set people free, authenticating His message of God’s reign. Let us be praying for Pastor Oliver's sermon prep that God will speak to him and give clarity to him as he unpacks the text. Pray for us to be not only hearers of God's word but doers who respond with trust and confidence in Jesus' words.

This week, we mourn the loss of a dear saint, Auntie Poh Kin but we rejoice that she is in her eternal home with the Lord. Let's continue to pray for her grieving family that they will find encouragement and comfort in God. Let's also be praying that we will trust in our sovereign God during this time of anxiety as the nations cope with the spread of the coronavirus. Pray for  the medical personnel and many others who battle in the frontline with this virus that God will protect them from harm and danger. Pray that God will turn the hearts of people to Him, the source of hope and comfort. For other needs of the church, here is this week's ministry guide for your prayer and participation.
