Prepare for Worship (9 Aug 2020)

Ministry Guide (9 Aug 2020)

What am I looking for? What is the thing in my life I most long for?

Call to Worship: Psalm 84:1-3, 10-12

"How lovely is your dwelling place,
O Lord of hosts!
My soul longs, yes, faints
for the courts of the Lord;
my heart and flesh sing for joy
to the living God.
Even the sparrow finds a home
and the swallow a nest for herself,
where she may lay her young,
at your altars, O Lord of hosts,
my King and my God.
For a day in your courts is better
than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
the Lord bestows favour and honour.
No good thing does he withhold
from those who walk uprightly.
O Lord of hosts,
blessed is the one who trusts in you!"

GOD'S WORD IN WORSHIP

Taking the pulpit this Sunday is Pastor Ian and his sermon is titled "Praying Kingdom Prayers". He will show us from Luke 11:1-13 how Jesus teaches that when we pray, God is the most precious gift. Let's come with our hearts prepared to learn to pray prayers that are aligned with God's will. Pray for Pastor Ian that as a minister of the word that God will grant him the boldness and power to preach.

PRAYING FOR THE COMMUNITY

This week, let's be intentional about praying and thanking God for a brother or sister in GBC and drop them a note to encourage them. Also, let's pray for a favourable response from the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth to allow us to gather for worship and celebrate the Lord's Supper together. We also want to give thanks to God for His grace upon 2 couples, Marcus Kho and Beatrice, and Justin and Mae Yen who will be married on Saturday, 8 Aug. Pray that God will be central in their relationship and for them to reflect God's glory in their new life together as husband and wife. Let's also not forget to uphold the ministries and the church as you pray through this week's ministry guide.
