Prepare for Worship (8 Sep 2019)

How have I failed this week to notice God’s glory in His world?

WORSHIP PREPARATION

Call to Worship: Psalm 19:1-5

"The heavens declare the glory of God,

and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

Day to day pours out speech,

and night to night reveals knowledge.

There is no speech, nor are there words,

whose voice is not heard.

Their voice goes out through all the earth,

and their words to the end of the world.

In them he has set a tent for the sun,

which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,

and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy."

SONGS OF WORSHIP

Here are the songs for this week.

GOD'S WORD IN WORSHIP

Continuing with the book of Romans, Pastor Ian will be preaching from Romans 10:14-21 this Sunday. He sermon is titled "The Road Rejected".  He will remind us that we,  are not any different from Israel, often fail to respond to God’s invitation to trust in Him alone. Let's pray that for our heart to be receptive to God's word and respond by daily trusting in the God of our salvation, whose enduring affection will hold us fast to Him. Pray for Pastor Ian that God will guard his heart and mind as he prepares to speak God's truth to us with conviction and power.

PRAYING FOR THE COMMUNITY

We are thankful for Pastor Eugene whom God has graciously gifted us with, to serve the church and we want to celebrate together with him and Claire in affirming his ministry of the gospel at the Ordination Service on 21 Sep. Let's be praying for them that as they give of themselves to love and serve the church that many will be enriched and encouraged by their lives and counsel. While we rejoice, let's not forget to uphold those who going through pain and suffering in our midst that God will be their portion and comfort. For other needs of the church body,  please refer to this week's ministry guide and pray that each of us will play a part in building up the body for God's glory.
