Prepare for Worship (4 & 5 Dec 2021)

Ministry Guide (4 & 5 Dec 2021)

In Jesus Christ, we meet God. How are we looking to Jesus Christ this Advent season?

Call to Worship: Psalm 18:25-28
"25 With the merciful you show yourself merciful;
with the blameless man you show yourself blameless;
26 with the purified you show yourself pure;
and with the crooked you make yourself seem tortuous.
27 For you save a humble people,
but the haughty eyes you bring down.
28 For it is you who light my lamp;
the Lord my God lightens my darkness."

This Advent season, the pulpit ministry will take us through 3 passages from the Gospel of John. Beginning with John 1: 1-18, Pastor Oliver will point us to Jesus Christ who is the Word of God and through whom we are invited to be children of the Father. Let us prepare our heart this Advent season contemplating Christ, the Word made flesh and dwelt among us. Also, be praying for Pastor Oliver that God will empower him to speak with clarity and conviction, that God's word will do a work of transformation in the hearts of His people.

As part of this GBC family, let us remember to pray for the church in the following matters:

  • To trust and receive the revealed Word of God, Jesus Christ and look to Him this Advent season
  • Evangelistic opportunities where Good News of Jesus is preached
  • A heart of gratitude as we celebrate God sending His Son for us and our salvation
  • In-person Sunday School resumes this Sunday (5 Dec) - pray for the teachers and children
  • Our hearts to trust in God’s purposeful sovereignty as we observe the news on the new CoViD-19 variant (Omicron)

In addition, let us prayerfully consider participating in the life of the church and be serving the various ministry needs listed in this week's ministry guide.
