Prepare for Worship (27 Jan 2019)

As we prepare our hearts for worship, let's take time to consider these reflection questions: How have we turned away from God? How do we need to turn back to him?

WORSHIP PREPARATION

Call to Worship: Isaiah 6: 3b-5

"Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” 4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts!”

SONGS OF WORSHIP

Here are the songs for this week.

GOD'S WORD IN WORSHIP

Continuing with the Book of Romans this week is Pastor Eugene who will be preaching from Romans 1:18-32 and his sermon is titled " 1 John 2:3-11 and his sermon is titled "Why We Need the Gospel?".  Pastor Eugene will help us understand that sin is fundamentally idolatry and a rejection of worship of the true God. And because we have all turned away from God, we need the righteousness that the gospel provides.Let's be praying for his sermon preparation and for us to consider God's holy and righteous judgment that when confronted with the reality of our sinfulness, we would return to God through the grace and mercy of Christ.

PRAYING FOR THE COMMUNITY

Please continue to keep Pastor Ian in prayer as he spends time with his family and ministers God's word to fellow Christians in Canada. Also pray for the deacons whom we commissioned last Sunday that God will bless the work of their hands as they serve Him and the church. Let's be praying also that we will steward the resources He has blessed us with for His kingdom. For more opportunities to serve our community, please refer to this week's ministry guide and prayerfully consider participating in or praying for them. May God help us to be a community of light and hope that points people to Him.
