Prepare for Worship (26 Jan 2020)

Now is the day of salvation. Have I believed the good news of Jesus Christ?

Call to Worship: Isaiah 52:7-10

"How beautiful upon the mountains

are the feet of him who brings good news,

who publishes peace, who brings good news of happiness,

who publishes salvation,

who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.”

 The voice of your watchmen—they lift up their voice;

together they sing for joy;

for eye to eye they see

the return of the LORD to Zion.

Break forth together into singing,

you waste places of Jerusalem,

for the LORD has comforted his people;

he has redeemed Jerusalem.

The LORD has bared his holy arm

before the eyes of all the nations,

and all the ends of the earth shall see

the salvation of our God."

Here are the songs for this week.

Let's prepare ourselves to receive God's word this Sunday by reading and meditating on Luke 4:14-30. Be praying for Pastor Eugene who is bringing God's word to us. His sermon is titled "The Good News of the Christ", pointing us to Jesus the promised, Spirit-anointed Messiah who has come to preach good news to outsiders. Pray for Pastor Eugene that he will use this passage to help him love the gospel more and help the hearers do the same.

It is with sadness that 2 from our GBC family, Stanley Yin and Clare Chandler, suffered the loss of loved ones this week. Please continue to uphold them in prayer as they go through this period of grief. Despite the unhappy news, we rejoice in God's faithfulness that Kok Pui has been discharged from the hospital and is recuperating at home. Pray also for Pastor Ian who is away this week in Canada that God will bless his ministry there, connecting with people. Pray for us to recognise our need for dependence on God as a corporate body at our monthly prayer meeting. For other prayer needs of the church, please refer to this week's ministry guide.
