Prepare for Worship (25 Aug 2019)

Whoever trusts in Jesus Christ will not be put to shame. How would knowing this encourage your heart?

Call to Worship: Psalm 40:4-8

Blessed is the man who makes

the Lord his trust,

who does not turn to the proud,

to those who go astray after a lie!

You have multiplied, O Lord my God,

your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us;

none can compare with you!

I will proclaim and tell of them,

yet they are more than can be told.

In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted,

but you have given me an open ear.

Burnt offering and sin offering

you have not required.

Then I said, “Behold, I have come;

in the scroll of the book it is written of me:

I delight to do your will, O my God;

your law is within my heart.”

Here are the songs for this week.

This Sunday, we will resume our preaching on the book of Romans. Pastor Ollie will be preaching from Romans 9:30-33 and his sermon is titled "The Wrong Way to be Right". He will point us to the truth that we can only be right with God not by works but by faith in Christ and that our righteousness is not our own but is given to us by our God in Christ Jesus. Let's pursue righteousness by submitting to faith in Christ, not by our self-righteous religious effort.

We thank God for Pastor Ian who has just returned from his leave to serve us again. We also give thanks for the 60 years of grace in Christ which we celebrated last Sunday and let's pray that we will continue to live out "Grace in Christ" as a church Here is this week's ministry guide which shows the different areas that we can live out the grace in Christ as a community in how we love and serve one another.
