Prepare for Worship (23 & 24 Oct 2021)

Ministry Guide (23 & 24 Oct 2021)

What has 1 Peter taught us about hope? How are we standing firm in God's grace?

Call to Worship: Exodus 14:13-14
"And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will work for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall never see again. The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

We thank God for the faithful preaching of 1 Peter and this week, we end the book with 1 Peter 5:6-14. The Hope sermon series will continue with the book of Habakkuk for the subsequent few weeks before we start the Advent series. Let's be praying for Pastor Eugene as he perseveres through 1 Peter 5:6-14 that will empower him to speak with clarity, power and conviction. Let us prepare our hearts to hear God's word and may we respond in humility, standing firm in God's grace.

Let us devote some time to care and love by praying for the needs in church and our partners in the gospel:

1. GBC

  • Victor Seck & Jolene - pray for this couple who got married last Sunday that God will be central in their marriage as they journey together in this new phase of their lives
  • Jeannie Cheang and family - pray that God will continue to be their comfort and strength as they grieve the loss of her mother last week
  • Families in church - pray for those who have health concerns or have been impacted by CoViD-19 infections. Pray for comfort and encouragement.
  • The church - pray that we will stand firm in God’s true grace, being humble and sober-minded as we await the fulfilment of our living hope.

2. The Crossing Church (Pastor Denesh)

  • Thank God for the hundreds of visitors to church in the last 6 weeks through their Mission week and sermon series on sex. There is a good number in follow up groups. Pray for non-Christians to repent and believe. Pray for many nominal Christians to commit to being regular at church.
  • Wisdom as they finalise plans with their Myanmar missionaries to plant a church in Yangon in 2022. Pray for protection for them, wisdom as they begin, like-minded partners on the ground.
  • The church will stand against materialism and worldliness. Pray that we would be cross-shaped...not comfort-shaped as a church.

3. One Covenant Church (Pastor Tze)

  • They will stay faithful to the Gospel, and be renewed in it both individually and corporately, that as a church they would have both Gospel doctrine and a Gospel culture of humility, gentleness and grace
  • Voting for their first Elders -  pray for God's wisdom to guide them in the process, and that the men would have shepherd hearts to care for God's flock
  • Pray for love and unity among them and with fellow believers in other churches, especially since COVID-19 restrictions have "scattered" people and made it hard to gather

Let us also turn to this week's ministry guide and be upholding the ministries in prayer.
