Prepare for Worship (21 July 2019)

In what am I placing my hope?

Call to Worship: Lamentations 3:21-26

"But this I call to mind,

and therefore I have hope:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;

his mercies never come to an end;

they are new every morning;

great is your faithfulness.

“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,

“therefore I will hope in him.”

The Lord is good to those who wait for him,

to the soul who seeks him.

It is good that one should wait quietly

for the salvation of the Lord."

Here are the songs for this week.

Bringing us the sermon this Sunday is Pastor Oliver. He will be preaching from Romans 8:18-30 and the title of his sermon is "From Groaning to Glory: The Hope Believers Have". He will point us to God who assures us of our glorious hope in Christ and that we can wait and trust that God will accomplish His will for our good. Let's pray for Pastor Oliver that God will grant him clarity as he prepares and that God will do a work of transformation in the hearts of the hearers of His word.

We thank God for the elders whom God has called to "equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ".  Let's pray for them as they do that at the 2nd run of Equip starting this Saturday, 13 Jul. Let's also be praying for those who are getting baptised on 21 July.  For more of how we do life together and other areas of need, please refer to this Sunday's ministry guide and prayerfully consider how you can steward your time and the talents that God has gifted you for His work.
