Prepare for Worship (18 Oct 2020)

Ministry Guide (18 Oct 2020)

How is Jesus calling you to follow Him by faith and not by sight?

Call to Worship: 2 Corinthians 5:16-17

"From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come."

This Sunday, Pastor Eugene will be preaching from Luke 13:10-21 and his sermon is titled "Surprised by God's Kingdom". He will help us see that the kingdom of God has come in surprising ways that confound our human understanding and expectations. Let's pray for Pastor Eugene that God will give him clarity of the text and that God's powerful word will transform his heart and ours as we receive it with humility and obedience.

In your private moments or even in your CGs or small groups, let's remember to uphold these communities in prayer:

1. Youth Ministry

  • Pray for our youth leaders that God will give strength and wisdom to them as they shepherd and care for the youths. The church to come alongside them to encourage them as most are utterly spent, keeping the youths grounded in God's word and growing them.
  • Church members to avail themselves to help in teaching at the Youth Camp and providing food for them. Pray that the organising committee that God will grace them with His wisdom, energy and stamina as they plan for the camp. Pray for the youths to sign up for the camp.

2. Expectant mums and new parents

  • Thank God for couples who are about to enter a new phase in their married life, with the soon arrival of a child. May God be their guide and wisdom as entrust their family to Him. May they continue to depend on Jesus for His sustaining grace and power.
  • Smooth transition and adjustment for new parents as they endeavour to raise their child in a God-honouring way. Pray for guidance and divine wisdom as they learn and grow as a family.
  • Church members to walk alongside them and help with their practical needs.

3. Affirming New Elder, Tan Chong Tien

  • The English Congregation Meeting this Sunday that as a church, we will steward the voice of God and affirm the appointment of brother Chong Tien as elder.
  • Chong Tien's family who is willing to lend this brother to serve the church.

4. Healthcare Workers

  • Our medical frontliners (doctors, nurses, allied healthcare workers etc.) who are fighting fatigue during this Covid-19 season. Pray for God's sustaning grace during this time.
