Prepare for Worship (12 Jan 2020)

Is there any part of my life right now, that would benefit from a fresh start?

Call to Worship: Isaiah 11:1-3a

“There shall come forth a shoot from the stump of Jesse,

and a branch from his roots shall bear fruit.

And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him,

the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,

the Spirit of counsel and might,

the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD.

And his delight shall be in the fear of the LORD."

SONGS OF WORSHIP

Here are the songs for this week.

GOD'S WORD IN WORSHIP

Taking the pulpit this Sunday is Pastor Ian and he will be bringing us the sermon from Luke 3:21-38. His sermon is titled "Christ, Confirmed". Let's prepare ourselves by meditating on the text during the week and be ready to hear from the God of new beginnings about our long-awaited Christ, who is the new Adam. Let's pray for God to lead and direct Pastor Ian as he develops his sermon during week and that he will bring forth God's word with clarity and conviction.

PRAYING FOR THE COMMUNITY

As we hold our 1st congregational meeting for 2020 this week, let's pray that GBC members will make plans to attend and stay informed of the latest ministry developments in the church. Let's be praying for our elders as they helm the meeting that God's name be magnified in all that they do. Pray for us, the church to be teachable and receptive to God's leading through our elders. Also, let's be praying for ministry needs in particular the Children's Ministry's urgent need for helpers at the nursery. Let's not forget the other needs of the church which are listed in this week's ministry guide
