Ministry Guide (5 & 6 Jun 2021)

How have we responded to King Jesus's rule and reign?

Call to Worship: 2 Sam 7:11-16

“And I will give you rest from all your enemies. Moreover, the Lord declares to you that the Lord will make you a house. When your days are fulfilled and you lie down with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. When he commits iniquity, I will discipline him with the rod of men, with the stripes of the sons of men, but my steadfast love iwll not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away from before you. And your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me. Your throne shall be established forever."

We thank God for raising young men among us for our pulpit ministry. Bringing  our sermon series on Psalms to a close this week is our elder Jonathan Tan who will be preaching on Psalm 45. His sermon is titled "How Lovely is God's Anointed". Let us pray for Jon as he leads us in praising this God's anointed King who rules victoriously through eternity in truth, meekness and righteousness. Pray that God's word will convict hearts to submit to His reign and rule.

This week, let us be praying for these needs:

1. International members in our midst who are separated from their families overseas

  • Pray for God's protection and mercy for their families especially those residing in India, Malaysia, USA etc. where the pandemic is raging and taking its toll on the people and their livelihood.
  • Pray for these international members to trust in God's love and sovereignty during these anxious times and that Lord willing, to be able to meet their families in-person soon.

2. Local and overseas churches

  • To continue to witness for the gospel and point people to Christ and His saving works.
  • To give comfort and encouragement to those who are suffering during these unusual times. Pray that they will turn to Jesus and be strengthened in their faith.

3. GBC

  • To learn how to love our people well, providing care for one another when we face emotional or mental stress, pressure and isolation during this challenging Covid-19 situation
  • Pray for families in the church to intentionally fold singles into their lives for mutual encouragement and upbuilding. Pray that the church family will seek to build Christ-centred relationships that cut across demographic lines.
