Ladies Fellowship - Tea at Tiferet
"Your adornment must not be merely external—braiding the hair, and wearing gold jewelry, or putting on dresses; but let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the imperishable quality of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is precious in the sight of God." 1 Pet 3:3-4 (NASB)
On a beautiful Saturday afternoon, some ladies of our church gathered together to fellowship and enjoy a relaxing cup of tea at Tiferet Tea Room.
The ladies not only had a great time bonding over tea and snacks, they also contemplated on the meaning of Tiferet, a Hebrew word for beauty. Sister Siang Kiang led the devotion, encouraging the ladies to reflect if they have the beauty of Christ in their lives or do they put more emphasis on outward adorning? Are they adored by many for looking gorgeous and well adorned, or for the imperishable jewel of a gentle and quiet spirit which is so precious in God's eyes?
As the ladies observed the techniques for brewing a good cup of tea, they learnt that if brewed with wrong techniques, a cup of tea will taste bitter even with the best quality tea leaves. And just as high quality tea leaves need the the right temperature, right steeping time to extract the right amount of essences to be a good cup of tea, so do our lives. We need God's Word to nourish and nurture us, and as we obey, the goodness and beauty of Christ will flow from us.
Pray that our ladies will continue to grow in Him and shine for Him!
