Grace News Issue #1 2015 - Persisting in Prayer

Grace News Issue #1 2015

Concluding the past year with a deeply moving Watchnight Service (read about it here), the winds of change have borne us into 2015. Big projects are coming up! Working towards a new GBC building; new members in the pastoral team; ministries gearing up to ready themselves for moving off-site; and more. Perhaps this is the year where efforts of the past culminate and bear fruit.

With all these big events coming up and foreseeably busy times ahead as a Church, it can get way too easy to neglect the fundamentals of Christian life. One big part of it is prayer. On page 1 of the latest newsletter, Pastor Arnold reminds us of the importance of individual prayer, while not forgetting the power of corporate prayer to unite the church and change lives. Lydia Lee follows up with a sharing on page 2 of how GBC’s monthly prayer meeting has been a platform for her to bless others.

How is the prayer of a follower of Christ different from that of an unbeliever? Tan Yee Kiat describes the transformation of his prayer life, on page 3, as a new man through faith in Jesus Christ. And on page 4, our beloved senior saints CC Lee and Mrs P describe the spiritual heritage of GBC – God’s wonderful faithfulness in bringing GBC through obstacles to where she stands today. Find out who’s involved with the Church Rebuilding Committee on page 5 and partner them in prayer!

Pages 6 and 7 are filled with the colours of the past few months - the Ladies Ministry's get-together at Tiferet, and youths hungry for God’s word at their recent camp - just to name a few.

Finally, on page 8, we provide a timeline of GBC’s first-ever Reformation Concert. Caleb Yap shares with us how the grand finale was a result of the combined efforts of many dear church members and much faith in God.

“Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Heb 13:8) Even as we as a church go through times of change, the word of the Lord stands forever. With many examples of God-led journeys published in this issue of Grace News, we hope you have a prayerful start to 2015.

God bless.
