Prayer Meeting
(28 April 2017)
Prayer Points

I. YOUNG ADULT MINISTRY
Prayer & Praise:
- We praise God for the recent baptisms & membership transfer of our 6 young adults. We give thanks for the encouragement they received & how the body of Christ was edified.
- Thank God for the recent monthly social & the four GBC families/couples that we visited on 22/4 and 29/4 respectively. Thank God for the time of fellowship & encouragement as we got to know one another.
- Pray for the upcoming YA retreat in JB with the theme 'Holy, Resolved'. We are praying for 45 pax to attend. Pray for the YAs & the speakers, Pastor Eugene and Wen Pin, who will be teaching on this important but oft-neglected topic.
- Pray for the ongoing training sessions, especially the teaching of the Gospel Primer, that many will learn how to do expository Bible studies for evangelism & point unbelievers to the Scriptures. Pray for leaders like B, who labor faithfully in training while juggling work.
- Pray for the upcoming evangelistic training event, where we will have three converts from another religion share with us their experiences & obstacles coming to faith. Pray for leaders like P, that they will be wise in their planning, avoid controversy, but also plan a useful session.
- Pray for the YA leaders who are struggling as they disciple others. Discipleship is often a lonely road. Pray for leaders like Y, who find themselves sacrificing social time and other opportunities to serve with the uni students and often see no fruit. Pray for faithfulness in ministry, boldness to speak, and joy as they experience God's approval.

II. EVANGELISM
Prayer & Praise:
a. Gracehaven
- Thanksgiving for the Gracehaven outing on the 8 Apr. 18 children, 4 staff & 11 GBC members participated in the outing to Bukit Timah Hill. Some games were disrupted due to the rain. Nevertheless, the children enjoyed themselves & were able to learn forgiveness from the story of Joseph in Genesis shared by Julian. It was also observed that some children started to open up at this outing.
- Pray for the next outing on 20 May. Pray for fine weather, good participation, safety for all participants & God’s love to be shared.

b. Tuition Ministry
- Pray for God' s provision of adequate resources for the ministry.
- Pray that God will strengthen our members as they serve & build bridges in the Macpherson community.
- Pray that God will grant them wisdom and joy to handle challenging situations.

c. Great Commission Month in May
- Pray that God's Word & direction will come through clearly through the speakers, workshops & sharing.
- Pray that the fire of passion to further God’s kingdom in the sharing of the gospel here and to the ends of the earth, will be set ablaze.
- Pray that GBC will make the Gospel contagious in their everyday life for the glory of God.

III. WORSHIP MINISTRY
Prayer & Praise:
- Thank God for the Good Friday & Easter services where the choir participated and reminded us of the immensity of Christ’s sacrifice & the joy and certainty of our faith in His resurrection, in song. We had a 20-strong choir & thank God that many of the choir members have been blessed during their preparation for the items. Please continue to pray that the choir ministry will continue to be a blessing to all who participate and also to the whole church.
As we make preparations to go into our new building, please continue to pray for:
- Wisdom & perseverance as the worship ministry team works in making the transition back as smooth as possible
- More personnel to join the ministry (especially in the area of sound & musicians).
- For the entire worship team to continue to rely on Him for strength & encouragement as they serve weekly.

IV. MISSIONS
How to Pray for Missionaries:
a. Pray for Open Doors
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful & thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.” — Colossians 4:2–3 (NIV)
Open doors can’t be taken for granted. Many missionaries work in countries that are difficult to access or in areas that are resistant to the gospel. But “open doors” include more than just access to nations and people groups. Individuals’ hearts also need to be open and receptive to God’s truth.
- Pray that God will open doors of ministry, blessing partnerships & friendships.
- Pray that those who serve will be led by the Holy Spirit & recognize open-door opportunities.
- Pray that God will lead His people past barriers to hearts ready to receive his Word.

b. Pray for Boldness in Witness
“Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel.”— Ephesians 6:19 (NIV)
Missionaries are regular people who fear pain and rejection as much as anyone else. When faced with opposition, they need God’s strength to help them stand firm.
- Pray that the missionaries will have boldness to overcome the fear of embarrassment or failure.
- Pray that the Spirit will provide them with words that communicate effectively in other cultures & languages.
- Pray against evil forces that would seek to hinder the spread of the gospel.

V. CHURCH REBUILDING
Prayer & Praise:
- Site work progress. Please pray that the remaining project will proceed smoothly despite the recent wet weather so that the church could move into the new premises by mid-August 2017 as planned.
- Building sub-committee (BSC). We are thankful to God for the work done by the sub-committee thus far. Continue to pray that they remain focused & united as they oversee work and make important decisions that have implications on costs & function.
- Church rebuilding fund. We are thankful for the continued fund raising efforts by the members, in particular the upcoming garage sale on 13 May 2017. Please pray that everyone will rally together for the final push to raise the remaining sum.

VI. CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
Prayer & Praise:
- Pray for relief teachers for this June to help take over the lessons and to give the teachers a well-deserved break.
- Pray for wisdom as the ministry plans for the move back to Mattar Road.
- Thank God for all the wonderful talents we have in producing a CD of memory verses & please pray as we seek funds to pay for the production costs.

VII. YOUTH MINISTRY
Prayer & Praise:
- We thank God that the youth are more settled with our new routine of meeting on Fridays.
- The youth are in the midst of competitions. Pray that they would continue to see that Jesus is more valuable than any achievements the world can offer.

VIII. DISCIPLESHIP SEMINARS (DS)
Prayer & Praise:
- Pray for strength for teachers as they continue to prepare & teach lessons from 2 Chronicles. Pray that they will be faithful in teaching the Word & the lessons would first grip their hearts before they teach the text. Continue to pray for the teachers to live as models in light of James 3:1.
- Pray for attendees to DS that their hearts will be moved by God's Word.
- Thankful for leaders who have come alongside to share with us their wisdom to sharpen the ministry.
- Pray for our activities for 2H 2017 as we plan for the future curriculum.
