Decentralized Evangelistic Christmas (DEC) Celebration

The CG Ministry, in collaboration with the Evangelism Team, is organising a Decentralised Evangelistic Christmas (DEC) event on 17 Dec (7-10.00 pm) at various CG members' homes. This is another good opportunity for us to share with our family members and friends who do not know our Lord Jesus Christ. Let's hear more from Deacon Kah Yin on this event...

What is Decentralized Evangelistic Christmas celebration?
Are you making disciples? Are you spreading the Good News? Christmas in December is a joyous holiday season. It is a time for most working people to slow down and take a break. Most students are also enjoying their school holidays. While many non-Christians may be hesitant to accept an invitation to a church Service, they are more open to an invitation to a home for a Christmas celebration. The Decentralised Evangelistic Christmas celebration was born from the above thinking. You can gather a group of your Christian friends and organise a Christmas celebration and invite your non-believer friends. If not, you can tap onto one of the care groups that is organising the Decentralised Evangelistic Christmas Celebration. It is meant to be an informal and casual celebration depending on your own creativity.

The church will put together a booklet comprising a foreword written by Pastor Ian on the meaning of Christmas, Christmas carols that tell the story of Jesus' birth meaningfully selected by Deacon Lup Meng and an invitation to our Christmas service. Every page of this booklet is designed to tell the good news. Deacon Lup Meng has also prepared two teams of carolers on 17 December from 7.30 pm to 10.00 pm. You can invite the carolers to your celebration, subject to their availability. You are free to organise the celebration at other times that are suitable to you.You can also request for the booklets from Deacon Thian Chye.

The booklets will be issued on 4 December at 5 pm after the service. At the same time, Pastor Ian, Deacon Lup Meng and the E- Team will be there to provide useful suggestions for building bridges with non-believers.

What is the purpose of the DEC?
Decentralised Evangelistic Christmas Celebration encourages our members to come together to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ and reach out to pre-believers. It makes us accountable to the cause of Christ, to pray and serve together. It promotes mutual support, unity and an evangelistic lifestyle. To be joyful for our salvation, express it and spread it to the people around.

What do you hope to achieve through the DEC?
I not only hope to see mature Christians discipling and helping the younger ones to walk and grow in their faith but also through the DEC, it will remind us of the love of God and to allow His love to overflow to others. I also hope that the groups who have organised the Decentralised Evangelistic Christmas Celebration will share their stories with the church to encourage and to promote evangelism as a lifestyle.

Let's be praying for this outreach and also for those who are reaching out to their families and friends in their own personal ways during this Christmas season.
