Former Pastors Send Best Wishes
Two of our former pastors, then-Senior Pastor Rev Arnold and Effie Wong, and missions pastor Rev Dick and Edith Hugeniot send their love and greetings to GBC on our 60th anniversary from the United States.
Via email, the Wongs wrote:
“Dearest elders, members, and guests at the 60th Anniversary of Grace Baptist Church, Singapore,
Effie and I are so sorry that we cannot be with you for this 60th anniversary of God’s faithfulness to GBC. God has graciously and powerfully seen GBC through for 60 years. His constant presence, promises, and power has brought us through each and every day.
Words cannot begin to describe our praise to the Lord and how we feel in our hearts toward you all.
So with your permission, we would like to borrow the words of the Apostle Paul, who wrote these affectionate words to the church in Thessalonica in 1 Thessalonians 1:1-3.
"...Grace to you and peace. We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly mentioning you in our prayers, remembering before our God and Father your work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ."
When we think of you, we fondly remember how again and again the Lord enabled all of us to work TOGETHER to continue the ‘work of faith and labor of love and steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ’ and for our Lord Jesus Christ. And we are ever confident that God will continue His good work in and through all of us till His return.
Today, and in the days ahead, we need to hold dear the timeless truth that our God is not only the God of our past and our present, but also of our future. We need to keep trusting Him. In Jeremiah 29:11-13, the Lord says, "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will hear you. You will seek Me and find Me, when you seek Me with all your heart."
Keep trusting, keep praying, and keep seeking Him.
With all praise and glory to God and love for you all,
Pastor Arnold and Effie.”
