Ministry Guide (17 May 2020)

Hello! Welcome to Grace Baptist Church!  Do drop by the visitors' table before the service or provide us with your contact details at www.tinyurl.com/welcometogbc or through this QR code:

We look forward to getting to know you better and hearing how we can serve you!

Keen to find out more about joining the GBC community?   We have a membership class called "Church Matters" which teaches through what we believe and what it means to be a church member. The next class will be on Sundays, 19 July, 26 July and 2 Aug, 11.00am - 12.30pm. If you would like more information, please contact Pastor Eugene (eugenelow@gracebaptistchurch.sg).

Stay Connected: Signup for our online newsletter and prayer updates at www.tinyurl.com/gbcenews. These two mailers are how the church leaders can send important information to members, encourage prayer, and keep everyone in the family informed.

1) Children's Church lesson for age 3 to 12:

Topic: Jesus Calms the Storm, Heals an Old Lady and Resurrects a Girl

Passage: Luke 8:22-56

Key Theme: Jesus Displays His Power over Nature, Illness and Death

New and have questions? Please contact Mok Chuan Xin (98531017).

2) Vacation Bible School (VBS) | 3 - 5 Dec 2020

Theme for this year's VBS: Time Lab - Discovering Jesus from Eternity Past to Eternity Future! This year, we hope to be more intentional about reaching out to our non-believing friends and the community. However, the camp cannot happen without volunteers. That's where you come in!

We are urgently looking for 3 groups of volunteers (although you can sign up for other roles as well):
1) Outreach
2) Publicity
3) Curriculum adaptation
The link to sign up for volunteers is here: https://tinyurl.com/GBC-VBS-Volunteer
The job descriptions can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/VBS-JD
And here's the VBS 2020 announcement if you missed it: https://youtu.be/MDtln4bJJVY
We are going ahead with the planning for VBS because we believe that no matter the circumstances, it is important to share the gospel, especially in these uncertain times. The format of VBS may change, depending on how the COVID-19 situation develops, but the message and call of the gospel remains the same. We hope you will pray with us and step out in faith to volunteer for this project as well.
With that, we look forward to working with many of you!

Though we cannot gather physically as a church to pray, we thank God for technology that allows us to connect with one another. We will be having our prayer meeting online on the 29 May at 8.00pm. Do join us as we unite our hearts to seek God and His grace! To access the meeting, please scan this QR code:

"Pray in the Spirit on all occasions....With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people." (Ephesians 6:18). Yes, praying for people is one way we show care and love for people. If you have any prayer needs, please drop the pastoral staff a note via https://tinyurl.com/pastoralprayer or scan this QR code:

Dear GBC members and worshippers,

To reduce the risk of further local transmission of COVID-19, the Government has enforced stricter measures to limit gatherings. All religious services have been suspended.

In light of the Government’s latest advisory, GBC will be taking these additional precautionary measures with immediate effect. They will be put in place until the "circuit breaker" policies have been lifted.

1. GBC has suspended all physical gatherings, including our worship services. Our worship services will be conducted online and delivered through our Youtube channel. We encourage all members to participate in the service online.

If you have difficulties doing so, please contact the church office for assistance.

Email: info@gracebaptistchurch.sg

2. We are conducting these ministry activities online:

- Small group Bible studies

- Equip

- Monthly Prayer Meeting

3. Care Groups will continue to meet virtually using applications like Zoom or Google Hangouts.

4. To prevent inadvertent breaches of the stricter measures, the church building will be closed to all members and staff.

5. The following activities are suspended until further notice:

- Outreach Ministry

- Church Matters

- Quarterly Congregational Meeting

- Live-streaming of our Worship Service from the Sanctuary (we will instead be using Zoom to record the service from our individual homes).  This is in keeping with addition advisement given by MCCY on 7 April.

Although we cannot physically gather as a church, let us continue to encourage and care for one another (Heb. 10:24-25). We encourage the ongoing cultivation of community, especially with those who are alone and/or vulnerable. Let's continue to pray for one another.

Above all, let’s press on in love. The current health crisis does present us with many opportunities to serve one another, so let’s do so with the grace that God provides.

In this time of fear and anxiety, let us take courage from the unchanging truth that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble. Therefore we will not fear….” (Ps.46:1-2)

These are challenging days. If you need financial or family support, or know of anyone in the GBC community who needs help, please contact any of our pastors or write to gbclovegift@gracebaptistchurch.sg. As a family of faith, we want to provide practical love and care for one another. Please be assured that your request will be treated with sensitivity and discretion.
