“To Whom Are We Listening To?”

“To Whom Are We Listening To?”

(1 John 4:1-6)

There are many voices speaking to us: who do we listen to?

A command to discern (v. 1)

How we can discern: Test 1 (vv. 2-3)

The assurance that we can discern (v. 4)

How we can discern: Test 2 (vv. 5-6)

“It is necessary to everlasting salvation; that he also believe faithfully the Incarnation of our Lord Jesus Christ. For the right Faith is, that we believe and confess; that our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is God and Man; God, of the Essence of the Father; begotten before the worlds; and Man, of the Essence of his Mother, born in the world. Perfect God; and perfect Man… Who although he is God and Man; yet he is not two, but one Christ.”

 – Athanasius, Early Church Father

Reflection Question:

  1. How can we together as a church body learn to better discern truth? What can we do to help one another discern?
