Overview of the Career Ministry at GBC

The Career Ministry believes that our walk with God is a community project. We are organized into Care Groups (CGs) under the shepherding of pastors and elders who are involved in the community life of these groups. The CGs are differentiated to meet the different practical needs of people united by the desire to see the Gospel lived out in our lives together.

These groups may have started largely with young working adults, newlyweds and young parents, but by the grace of God are evolving to become more cross-generational. This diversity reflects the power of the Gospel to unite sinners under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

Whoever you are, we welcome you!

Most of the planned activities take place within the CG. We gather fortnightly in members’ home to share a meal and more importantly, fellowship over the Word. The CGs meets at different accessible locations and on different days.

Additionally, CG leaders (CGLs) gather quarterly for an extended time to pray through the list of members in the CGs, bringing our praises and petitions to our Heavenly Father. These quarter sessions are also important to identify the needs of individuals before God.

When we talk about “activities”, what we really mean is “availability” – making ourselves available to spend time with each other with the goal of presenting each other holy and pleasing to the Lord. This can take the form of meeting fellow church members working near your office for lunch, reading a book together, hanging around the church after service, doing spontaneous lunches after church or planning a hiking trip together!
