Sermon Schedule for June 2018

Book of Hosea

Sex and adultery. Broken promises. Threats of the covenant curses on an unfaithful people. The book of Hosea is nothing if not graphic in its portrayal of a faithless people. However, what is the message of the book of Hosea? And what has it got to do with the gospel? We shall be looking at the book of Hosea in our series of six messages from 3 Jun 2018. Looking back, our sermon series on Deuteronomy ended with Moses preaching the “blessings” and “cursings” of the Covenant to the Israelites before they entered the Promised Land. Now we shall see the people of God in the land. We see their failure to keep their end of their promises as agreed upon in their covenant with God. We see their spiritual adultery and their pursuit of idols. And yet, amidst all this, we see our faithful covenant God who loves and pursues his people. Because our faithful covenant God loves and pursues us, then how are we as church to respond? Come and hear from the book of Hosea!

So, pray for the pastors as we prepare for the messages that we will be faithful to the message of Hosea. Pray also that God will prepare our hearts to hear and respond to the messages in repentance and faith. You might also want to invite friends to hear from this seldom-preached book of the Bible.
