Prepare for Worship (6 May 2018)

How might God be calling me to live differently; in my family, in my school, or in my office?

Call to Worship: 1 Peter 1:13-16

Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the passions of your former ignorance, but as he who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.”

Here are the songs for this week.

Kicking off the Great Commission Month this Sunday is Pastor Ian, who will be preaching from Deuteronomy 8 and his sermon is  titled “Take Care and Beware”. The big idea of his sermon is that “Mission” is not primarily going somewhere or doing something.  It is about being a distinctive kind of counter-cultural people, living among the nations. Let us echo the words of Isaiah 6:8 “Here am I Lord, Send Me” in response to God who sends us on mission among the nations.

Here's this week's ministry guide which gives us a peek into how we do life together as a community in GBC. We want to be praying for our missionaries this month and for this week, let's remember David and Gladys Chang and their children as they continue to serve in Thailand. Let us prayerfully consider how we can better steward the time and talents that God has blessed us with to serve and grow this church community. Let us grow to be a church that seeks godliness and be looking out for the needs of others.
