Prepare for worship (18 Mar 2018)

Call to worship: Philippians 2:7-11
"... but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."

Jesus is a humble and compassion Servant-King, who made himself nothing in order to love and save the unlovely. He came not to be served, but to serve. As we prepare our hearts for worship, let us focus on this love and commitment of God to cleanse us of our sins and bring us back to Him through Jesus.

Pastor Eugene will be preaching from John 13:1-17. Titled "A King stoops down", this is the first in a Lenten series to prepare us for Good Friday and Easter. Jesus humbled himself in order to save sinners. Let us pray and prepare our hearts to see his love afresh, and let us also obey His call to follow him in humble servant-mindedness.

Here's this week's ministry guide which gives us a peek into how we do life together as a community in GBC. Let us prayerfully consider how we can better steward the time and talents that God has blessed us with to serve and grow this church community. Let us grow to be a church that seeks godliness and be looking out for the needs of others.
