Prepare for Worship (14 Jan 2018)

Call to Worship : 1 Peter 2:4-5, 9-10

"As you come to him, a living stone rejected by men but in the sight of God chosen and precious,

you yourselves like living stones are being built up as a spiritual house, to be a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God's people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy."

How have our actions, our words, our silence, our fears show the presence or absence of God in our lives in the past week? Let us take a moment and release all that burdens and welcome the One who invites us into community and truly live out our lives as His redeemed people.

Here are the songs to help us prepare for worship this week.

This week, Pastor Ian's sermon is titled "Called to Belong" and he will be preaching from Ephesians 2:11-22.   Let's pray that he will be faithful in delivering God's word and help us understand the big idea of his sermon that sin leads to isolation but grace leads to community, and that we will respond by committing ourselves to Christian community and submit to the church.

Here is this week's ministry guide which gives us a glimpse of how we do life together as a community here in GBC. Let us prayerfully consider how we can play our part in this community of believers by serving one another.

Let's prepare ourselves for worship and see you on Sunday!
