Prepare for Worship (12 Aug 2018)

This week, we count it a joy and privilege to gather with our brothers and sisters from the Chinese Congregation for a combined worship, not only in giving thanks to God in Scripture and song for being our Deliverer and Redeemer but also for a fellowship meal after the service.

WORSHIP PREPARATION

Call to Worship: Psalm 136:1-4, 23-26

"Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

Give thanks to the God of gods,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

Give thanks to the Lord of lords,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

to him who alone does great wonders,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

It is he who remembered us  in our low estate,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

and rescued us from our foes,

for his steadfast love endures forever;

he who gives food to all flesh,

for his steadfast love endures forever.

Give thanks to the God of heaven,

for his steadfast love endures forever."

SONGS OF WORSHIP

Here are the songs for this week.

GOD'S WORD IN WORSHIP

This week, Pastor Ian will be preaching from Colossians 1:9-14 and his sermon is titled "Aiming for Maturity". Thanksgiving is one of the marks of a mature disciple and Ps Ian will exhort us to live lives worthy of the gospel and be strengthened daily by His power. So as we scatter into the world this week, let's live lives that produce thanksgiving.

PRAYING FOR THE COMMUNITY

Here is this week's ministry guide which gives us a peek into how we do life together as a community in GBC. Let's continue to pray for GBC that as a church, we will truly make Christ obvious and reflect His glory in all that we do. And let us also prayerfully consider how we can better steward the time and talents that God has blessed us with to serve and grow this church community. Let us grow to be a church that seeks godliness and be looking out for the needs of others.
