Prepare for Worship (11 Mar 2018)

Call to Worship : Revelation 1:12-16

"Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and this face was like the sun shining in full strength."

This Sunday, let's bow down with humility and gratitude for this majestic and glorious God who has lavishly blessed us with heavenly riches in Christ, and richly provides us with everything we need. At the same time, take a moment to consider whether there might be any idols in your life that keep you from truly knowing the immense riches in Christ. God has rescued us from sin and made us His holy people in Christ.

Here are the songs to help us prepare for worship this week.

This Sunday, our elder associate and ministry staff, Sam Beh, will be preaching from 1 Timothy 6:3-21.  His sermon is titled “The Riches of Godliness".  He will exhort us to live out true godliness in light of the riches we have in Christ and to guard against false teachers, who do not understand the Gospel and are driven by the idol of financial gain. Let's us pray for God's wisdom and guidance to be upon him as he prepares his sermon and that as he brings God's word to us that we will be encouraged to live out true godliness in light of the riches we have in Christ, and beware of idols in our lives.

Here's this week's ministry guide which gives us a peek into how we do life together as a community in GBC. Let us prayerfully consider how we can better steward the time and talents that God has blessed us with to serve and grow this church community. Let us grow to be a church that seeks godliness and be looking out for the needs of others.

See you on Sunday!
