Let's Prepare for Worship This Sunday (8 Jan 2017)

WORSHIP PREPARATION

This week, as we prepare ourselves for worship, let's be reminded from Psalm 82:1-8 that our God is a God of compassion who hates material hoarding, partiality, selfishness, oppression and He expects us made in His image to walk like Him in justice and righteousnes. Let us examine our hearts and see if we have been honoring our God of justice and righteousness in our lives.

Leviticus 19:2 ".....You shall be holy, for I the Lord your God am holy."

Here are the pre-service reflection questions, call to worship passage, and songs for this Sunday to help direct our thoughts to God:

Psalm 82:1-8 (NLT) :

God presides over heaven’s court;
he pronounces judgment on the heavenly beings:
2 “How long will you hand down unjust decisions
by favoring the wicked?
3 “Give justice to the poor and the orphan;
uphold the rights of the oppressed and the destitute.
4 Rescue the poor and helpless;
deliver them from the grasp of evil people.
5 But these oppressors know nothing;
they are so ignorant!
They wander about in darkness,
while the whole world is shaken to the core.
6 I say, ‘You are gods;
you are all children of the Most High.
7 But you will die like mere mortals
and fall like every other ruler.’”
8 Rise up, O God, and judge the earth,
for all the nations belong to you.

Q1. Is there any trace of materialism and selfish injustice in my life? Am I honoring God with my stewardship?

Q2. How does the God of justice want me to live my life differently?
