Prepare for Worship (7 Apr 2019)

Do I put the joyful life of Christ on display, or does my brokenness get in the way?

WORSHIP PREPARATION

Call to Worship: Psalm 130:3-7

“If you, O LORD, should mark iniquities,

O Lord, who could stand?

But with you there is forgiveness,

that you may be feared.

I wait for the LORD, my soul waits,

And in his word I hope;

my soul waits for the Lord

more than watchmen for the morning,

more than watchmen for the morning.

Hope in the LORD!

For with the LORD there is steadfast love,

and with him is plentiful redemption."

SONGS OF WORSHIP

Here are the songs for this week.

GOD'S WORD IN WORSHIP

Bringing us the sermon this week is Pastor Ian. He will be preaching from Romans 5:12-21 and his sermon is titled "Ruin and Rescue". The big idea of his sermon is that though we have been ruined by the fall, we are rescued by Christ's work on the cross and in response we should joyfully embrace the life freely given in Christ. Let's pray for Ian that God will give him clarity as he prepares his sermon and for receptive, obedient hearts to God's word.

PRAYING FOR THE COMMUNITY

This week, let's pray for fruit and safety in travel for the team of 9 (from GBC and 2 other churches) leaving on Sunday afternoon for a mission trip to Cambodia. Also, let's be praying for those who are unwell and struggling with illness or sickness that they will find peace and rest in God, knowing that His grace is sufficient for them. For other needs of the church and how we do life together as a community, please refer to this week's ministry guide . Let's also prayerfully consider how we can help build the body with our time and talent.
