Faith Journal (4 October 2015)

Faith Journal entry for 27 September to 3 October 2015:

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, for His lovingkindness is everlasting.” Psalm 136:1, ESV.

Last Sunday, an older saint who helped build the present church since its beginning shared personally why he is excited that we face this challenge of rebuilding toward the church vision. Without challenges of faith, we tend to slide toward mediocrity and self-sufficiency. But when we, as God’s people, face challenges far bigger than our own ability to solve, then it is when we learn to grow in unity and dependence on a faithful God to provide.

Today, before you retire for the night, would you pause to reflect on the above verse. Then give thanks to God for something you have been blessed with today. Would you then pray for the new week ahead, and by faith, thank Him for the next six days and that you be alert to His grace, mercy, kindness and goodness when these show up daily.

From Monday to Saturday, read one passage from Psalm 136 below, then reflect and consider on the lovingkindness of God over His people. Then, record down your responses to the two questions below:

1. God’s goodness and sovereignty, which display His everlasting love (1-3)

2. God’s power in creation, which displays His everlasting love (4-9)

3. God’s mercies in rescuing His people out from slavery in Egypt, which displays His everlasting love (10-15)

4. God’s goodness in bringing His people to the promised land, which displays His everlasting love (16-22)

5. God’s grace in redeeming His people to Himself, which displays His everlasting love (23-24)

6. God’s provision for all His creations, which displays His everlasting love (25-26).

Ask daily: “How has God shown his lovingkindness to me today or yesterday?” & “How am I responding to His everlasting grace shown to me?”
