Baptism of Noah Tan - 11 Feb 2018
We rejoice with Noah Tan as he professes his faith and his desire to obey Christ by following Him in baptism.
Last Sunday, we had the privilege to witness the baptism of Noah Tan who was born into the GBC family and grew up hearing about God from his parents and Sunday school teachers. Growing up in a Christian environment, Noah accepted Christ as his Lord and Savour at a young age, but there was a period when he stagnated in his walk with Christ. Nonetheless, God is faithful and with age and maturity, Noah recognised that his faith is in Christ and resumed his walk with God.
Noah affirming that he has indeed received Jesus Christ as His Saviour and intends to follow Him as His Lord.
In his testimony, Noah shared how staying connected to his church family has helped him draw close to God, "I lived in London for close to a decade, and I was always very touched to hear from my parents that people in GBC were praying for me while I was away. But this felt even more real when I moved back to Singapore in the fall of 2016 and reconnected with the GBC family. I drew encouragement from this as well as from other experiences and interactions with fellow believers. During the past few years, the Lord has helped me through difficult situations, protected me, and I have learnt to be patient and to trust in Him."
Noah will be leaving for work in Ireland soon but prior to his departure, he decided to get baptised in the presence of the brothers and sisters in Christ whom he grew up with. We thank God for this young man for his obedience and for wanting to let his church family knows that he intends to obey Christ even as he lives away from us. Let's continue to keep this young man in our prayers, that he will continue to grow in Christlikeness, knowing that the Lord will watch over him and protect him.
On Noah's professon of faith, he was baptised in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. We celebrate with great joy!
We echo Noah's assurance that, "The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures; He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul; He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”
May we all have the hearts to obey and to be led by our Great Shepherd.
We thank God for Noah and pray that as he travels to a new place, he will find friends who will continue to encourage him in his walk with Christ and that he will also use this opportunity as a platform to share about His glory.
