A Note to My Church Family
Our dear sister, Lily Pang, who has retired as a missionary after faithfully serving 33 years in the field, updates us on the task that God has laid upon her heart to serve among the elderly in GBC and Singapore.
Dear GBC family,
The end of another year is here, yet it is a precious time as we remember the coming of our Saviour Jesus Christ with deep joy and thanksgiving to our God and our Lord. May I wish you all a Blessed Christmas and 2018.
I have been back in Singapore for 15 months, and have seen how and where our Father wants me to serve.
For the coming year, I will concentrate on visiting the elderly and learning to work among them, by God’s mercy, to welcome many into His kingdom and to see those who are His, modelling their lives according to the word. The elderly, ages ranging from 50-90 years old, include some from GBC and quite a few from my previous contacts through Fei Yue Befrienders and Lions’ Befrienders. Their homes are spread throughout Singapore from the east to the west. I have also signed up with our church’s Reading Programme that works with young school-age children.
I want you all to know that I am very much indebted to all of you, even though it is really to God, for running the race with me all these 33 years in the mission field and during my preparation for the field. It’s been a wonderfully inspiring experience in faith, love and hope, and I hope you too feel it with me. In the later years of my time on the field, I have thought that I would serve Singaporeans and GBC if I am in Singapore because of the long years I was away. Now I am here and have seen the Father’s leading, I will fulfill the plan – serving among the elderly of Singapore. That means I shall serve many of you as a lay person, not taking any remuneration. My monthly needs can be met by withdrawing from CPF, which you, GBC members, have been putting in through the years. Thanks be to our loving Father who through you, has provided for my years ahead!
Let us live daily as we read in Psalm 96:3-4, “Declare His glory among the nations, His marvellous works among all the peoples! For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods.”
